Ceremonies marking the final session of the outgoing parliament begin with a traditional church service at Helsinki's Lutheran Cathedral.

MPs will gather in session in the early afternoon to hear an address by Speaker of Parliament Paula Risikko, followed by a formal declaration of the dismissal of the current legislature by President Sauli Niinistö.

The event is being broadcast live on Parliament's webpages and on Yle TV1 starting at 1:30 PM.

Voting to elect a new parliament takes place this coming Sunday, April 14.
