Photo gallery: Mud-bathing swans and ice sculptures

Amateur nature photographers from Central Finland capture breathtaking scenes from the ongoing battle between winter and spring.

Late March has been a time of seesawing temperatures in many parts of Finland. Despite temperatures remaining mostly below freezing, Central Finland has seen persistent signs of spring – as captured here in nature photographs submitted to Yle. Members of the public have captured startling images of swans and ice formations. Waxwings feast on fallen berries while the first yellow coltsfoot pops into bloom.
