Production at the factory is to stop in the first half of 2013, according to the plan. The consultative negotiations will start at the beginning of November.

Workers at the Ylöjärvi plant staged a walk-out on Friday in response to the news.

The company also said that short temporary layoffs are on the cards for some employees at the company’s plant in Laitila, western Finland. Pilkington’s facility in Tampere is to continue working as normal.
