The Itä-Uusimaa police department said in a release issued Monday afternoon that they are continuing to interview the main suspect, victims and witnesses following a shooting incident at a Vantaa restaurant on Sunday evening.
The Finnish news agency STT spoke with lead investigator Mikko Minkkinen, who said that officers are considering three charges of attempted murder in the case. He also told the agency that the weapon used in the shooting was a licensed firearm.
The incident occurred shortly after 11.00 pm Sunday at a restaurant known as Pub Kärry located in Nuijatie in Vantaa. The gunman shot three men in the upper body. They were rushed for medical treatment and remain in hospital but their injuries were said to be non-life-threatening.
The suspect in the shooting is a 64 year-old man. He was detained at the scene of the crime and remains in police custody. According to Minkkinen, the man was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
Police said that the victims were all men aged 53, 39 and 30. Investigators said that there had been no indication of any kind of disagreement or dispute before the shooting.
