Some 2.66 million people tuned in, slightly more than the 2.62 million recorded last year, along with 220,000 views on Yle's Areena video streaming service.
The before and after shows also attracted a huge audience, with both the military parade and the after-party watched by 1.13 million TV viewers.
All in all, 3.6 million viewers watched some part of Yle's independence day coverage – a significant number in a country of 5.5 million people.
