The Katarina restaurant was forced to abandon ship at 10 p.m. when water engulfed the boat due to a faulty maintenance valve.
At one time, water reached a depth of 1.5 metres inside the boat and rescue officials feared the vessel might capsize. However, the water was pumped out and Katarina was once again made seaworthy.
On Saturday, it was business again as usual with the restaurant offering special dishes including “I survived from Katarina” pizzas and cocktails to mark the event.
The city of Turku is currently hosting the annual “Down by the Laituri”. Katarina is moored on the shore of the Aurajoki River which flows through the city.
