Finnish media group Sanoma said on Monday that it plans to acquire Spanish educational publisher Santillana for 465 million euros.

Sanoma described Santillana as Spain’s leading publisher of primary and secondary learning materials and said that the deal is likely to be finalised during the first half of 2021.

CEO Susan Duinhoven said in a statement that the purchase will be an important step toward making Sanoma a European-wide provider of learning materials.

Sanoma picked up Santillana from Prisa, a Spanish media conglomerate that owns newspapers, magazines and radio and television stations.
