Slumdog Millionaire Tops Finnish Box Office

English director Danny Boyle's Slumdog Millionaire was the most popular film in Finnish cinemas last weekend, drawing more than 10,000 viewers.

After seven weeks in Finnish theatres, the eight-Oscar-winner has attracted more than 125,000 filmgoers. The tale of an Indian boy's rise to riches from the slums of Mumbai is has a certification age of 15 in Finland.

Younger viewers flocked to the animated Monsters vs. Aliens 3D, which is restricted to viewers over age seven. It drew more than 9,300 viewers in the last weekend of April. The Finnish voiceover cast includes Stan Saanila, Laura Birn and Jorma Uotinen, who is best known as a dancer and choreographer.

The action picture Fast & Furious, which was the nation's most-watched film for two weeks after its release on April 10, dropped to third with 9,200 viewers. It has a certification of 13.
