A teenager was killed and another seriously injured during a motocross motorcycle practice on Friday evening in western Finland.
Police say the two young motorcyclists crashed head-on on a curve of a forest road in Lohiluoma, part of the municipality of Kurikka. The town is near Seinäjoki in the South Ostrobothnia region.
Police are investigating the crash as a suspected traffic offence and involuntary manslaughter.
One motorist died at the scene, and the other is in hospital with unspecified serious injuries.
The lead investigator, Detective Inspector Eero Välimäki of the Ostrobothnian Police Department, told the newspaper Iltalehti on Saturday that those involved were aged 16-18. He said that they had been moving at “moderately high speed,” but that many details remained unclear as everyone present had not yet been interviewed.
