Two Million Finns Exercise too Little

As many as 70 percent of Finns are out of shape, according to health experts. They say over 2 million Finns exercise infrequently or not at all. Exercise and health experts recently discussed the situation of health and exercise at a seminar in Heinola, in southern Finland.

Only 8 percent of Finns admit to exercising regularly.

Experts say too much emphasis has been put on training talented athletes, while neglecting the exercise needs of other people.

Exercise during school is also diminishing, with classes cut from four to two hours per week. Still, with their space and equipment, schools are considered the best place to exercise.

On the other hand, researchers noted that one in five students who exercises frequently has symptoms of exercise compulsion.
