Police in the south-eastern city of Kotka have placed two men in their 20s under arrest on Sunday on suspicion of murder.
Authorities say that a local man in his mid-60s was stabbed to death in a particularly brutal and cruel manner in a row house on Thursday evening. Emergency services received a call about the incident around 10 pm, but were unable to resuscitate the victim, who was born in 1953.
One of the suspects lived in the same house in northern Kotka's Helilä neighbourhood. A third detainee, aged around 20, was released late Saturday. Police say he is not longer suspected of involvement in the actual killing. No further details have been revealed.
Kotka is a port city on the south-east coast, some 70 km from the Russian border.
