Prime Minister Vanhanen said Thursday that he now considers the matter closed, will not bring legal charges, nor pursue the issue any further.
He did say that he believes that the claims presented by YLE TV2 were an attempt to force him out of office.
YLE TV2's current events show Silminnäkijä claims that Vanhanen accepted a gift of expensive lumber from a construction company hoping for building contracts.
TV2 denies that the report was an attempt to bring down the Prime Minister. The head of feature journalism at YLE furthermore pointed out on Thursday the programme did not claim that the lumber had been used specifically in the construction of Vanhanen's house.
Prime Minister Vanhanen has not commented on a demand by Centre Party group leader Timo Kalli for the resignation of YLE Managing Director Mikael Jungner over the affair.
