Kailajärvi’s girlfriend, ruled an accomplice to the crime, was handed a one-year prison term.

At least 2,800 people lost money in the scheme that fronted as an online investment club. Victims that fell prey to the get-rich-quick scam lost around 57 million euros.

According to the prosecution, Kailajärvi's ill-gotten gains total six million euros. This money will, however, be forfeited to the state.
