Over 700 music professionals took part in the three-day Music & Media conference in Tampere, organised for the 25th time.
Topping off the event was Saturday evening’s Industry Awards Gala. Yle’s culture channel Teema took the award for best Finnish music media, while the broadcasting company’s online media service Yle Areena won the prize for best web media.
Radio Helsinki was chosen as the best radio station of the year. Finnish rapper Cheek’s concerts at Helsinki’s Olympic Stadium were recognised as the phenomenon of 2014.
A&R boss Asko Kallonen was introduced into the Music & Media Hall of Fame, while the founder of the Tallinn Music Week festival, Estonian promoter Helen Sildna, was honoured with the Tampere Music Award for Exceptional Achievement in Music Business, given for the fifth time in 2014.
The lifetime achievement award went to Helsinki’s legendary music club Tavastia chief Juhani Merimaa, who has been credited with bringing rock ‘n’ roll to Finland.
