Three convicted in insider trading trial

Helsinki District Court has convicted three people of aggravated insider trading, and given them suspended prison sentences. They will also have to pay more than 370,000 euros they gained from their crimes to the state.

The trial concerns the Pohjola acquisition in the summer and autumn of 2005, in which the central co-operative bank OKO bought a majority stake in the Pohjola insurance group.

One of the trio was a lawyer who advised on the deal, the second was his spouse, and the third was a broker. They can appeal against the decision.
