Stay home: It’s national telework day

Friday marks Finland’s first annual telework day devoted to encouraging employees to stay home. Organisers say home-working reduces commutes and greenhouse gas emissions.

Some 15 percent of Finns have flexible work arrangements at the moment. National telework day aims to raise employer awareness of the benefits of telecommuting.

Finland’s environmental administration (SYKE) is behind the campaign, which points out that most of the two million commutes made in Finland each day are by car.
