Local Councils Vote to in Favour of Municipal Merger

The local councils of Tammisaari, Karjaa and Pohja voted on Monday in favour of merging into the city, Raasepori.

The new city in the region of Western Uusimaa will have around 28,500 inhabitants. Inkoo and Hanko decided not to join in on the merger.

Meanwhile, the towns of Reisjärvi and Kärsämäki voted against a proposal to merge. The plan would have merged the towns in northern Finland with Haapajärvi and Pyhäjärvi.
