Russian media has extensively covered child custody cases involving Russian parents in Finland. Finnish Prime Minister Jyrki Katainen sharply criticised Russian reporting of such cases last month, adding that he was concerned about how the two countries were represented in each others’ media.
Now the Krasnodar branch of the Communist party of the Russian Federation has called for protests at shops selling Finnish products, reports the Russian news agency Itar-Tass.
The party is expecting protesters to converge on stores in several towns in the region.
”If we want to protect the rights of our citizens abroad, the society should somehow react to the events happening with small citizens of our country," the party branch said in a statement.
