Finnvera: Revival of exports likely slow
The Finnish state-owned financing company Finnvera says that its clients did better during the first half of this year than in 2011, but that a revival in exports is likely to move ahead more slowly than previously forecast.
The continuing eurozone crisis has increased uncertainty about the future in general and, according to Finnvera, that economic uncertainty has increased the number of small and mid-sized businesses having problems managing their debts.
Finnvera reports that demand for its export guarantees and export credits were high during the first six months of the year. One reason for this were problems many companies have had accessing financing on international markets.
The company provided some two billion euros in export and special guarantees during the first half of this year. That figure for the same period of 2011 was 2.3 billion.
