A new poll for Helsingin Sanomat shows slightly increased support for Finnish membership of the NATO alliance—but the figures show that support still runs at less than 25 percent.

Support for Finnish NATO membership was 22 percent in the latest Helsingin Sanomat poll, a four percentage point increase on the figure one month earlier.

Some 59 percent of respondents are opposed to joining NATO, down from 64 percent a month earlier. The figures come from a poll conducted for HS by TNS-Gallup, in which 1,002 people were interviewed between 11-22 March.

The poll’s margin of error is plus or minus three percent.
