Police are launching a preliminary investigation into the blog of Jussi Halla-aho, a True Finns party member who was elected to Helsinki’s local government this autumn.
Halla-aho is suspected of incitement against an ethnic group. Police are also considering whether they should review his gun licence.
The Green Women’s Association filed a complaint against Halla-aho in November. In his blog, Halla-aho had written on immigration that, “Since rapes will increase in any case, the appropriate people should be raped: in other words, green-leftist do-gooders and their supporters.”
The matter was first reported by the tabloid Ita-Sanomat online.
