The film was praised by the judges for its warmth and humour, and picked up a prize worth 10,000 CHF (8,000 euros).

"Full of warmth and humour The Punk Syndrome is an entertaining and challenging celebration of life’s pleasures," said the judges. "This is not only a generous encounter with people traditionally placed at society’s margins, it is also a work of rigorous and inspired filmmaking."
