Information about the start-up date of electricity production at the Olkiluoto 3 plant unit is pending the finalization of the plant supplier’s schedule clarification. TVO has required an updated overall schedule and clarification of the measures taken to ensure progress to complete the plant from the supplier Areva-Siemens.
In a release on Wednesday, TVO noted that completion of the plant is well advanced and the reactor containment leak-tightness tests were completed earlier this week.
However, TVO Senior Vice President Jouni Silvennoinen also said that the remaining works need to be completed effectively and without delay.
Areva-Siemens is constructing the plant unit under a fixed-price turnkey contract. The plant was originally schedule to be completed by 2009. Recent unofficial estimates have been for no earlier than 2016. TVO and its supplier have filed claims and counter-claims against each other demanding billions in compensation for delays.
